More than just a beach — the whole archipelago is a protected marine national park, still refreshingly uncrowded compared to Indonesia's more famous islands.

A rare, guided experience most beach holidays can't offer: swim alongside reef sharks in a controlled sanctuary pool at Menjangan Besar.

Hidden off the north coast of Java, Karimunjawa offers a rare combination of untouched nature and peaceful island life.

Karimunjawa is a stunning tropical archipelago of 27 islands located in the Java Sea, north of Central Java, Indonesia. Most of the archipelago is protected as Karimunjawa Marine National Park, with beautiful white sandy beaches. It is part of the Jepara Regency, covering roughly 1,500 hectares of land and 110,000 hectares of marine area — about 80 to 100 kilometers northwest of the coastal town of Jepara.
